Composer, arranger, and orchestrator Jay Kaplon was born in 1986 in Essex, Massachusetts. He began playing violin at age 9 and started composing when he was 16. After writing pieces for friends and studying with composer Robert Bradshaw, Jay decided to make composing his career.
Jay has recently completed his Graduate Professional Diploma in Music Composition at the Hartt School, where he also completed his Bachelor's degree. He has studied with composers Robert Carl, Stephen Gryc, David Macbride, Larry Allan Smith, Ken Steen, Joseph Turrin, and Tawnie Olson.
Jay's music spans several styles and media including solos, chamber music, ensembles, opera, soundtracks and incidental music for plays, cartoons, and short films.
